Kim Leadford is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Law. She has extensive business experience, having managed law firms, jazz clubs, restaurants, a record label, and avant-soul piano diva, Kristi Martel.
Kim’s practice focuses mainly on advising independent filmmakers, studios and record label owners on their business and legal affairs. She is fluent in the business and legal worlds and has creatively structured deals that keep both realities on relatively equal ground.
For record label owners, Kim offers unique solutions designed to take prospective record label owners from concept through creation and ultimately to success. She also works with existing labels to restructure their businesses to make them more viable players in the market. Whether in film or music, Kim’s work is geared towards transforming the independent entertainment industries into the new major industries.
Kim is a prominent producer of film and television. She is currently producing two films with Baldwin Entertainment Group, A Touch of Ginger and (make me) Blush. Kim is also a managing partner and President of KAY Television, LLC in Providence; where she is currently co-producing and co-creating first-run syndicated television programs.
Kim also a speaker on panels concerning copyright law, branding, contract drafting and negotiation, business formation, structure and finance.
